I have a configured report, but I want to know what the data would look like for a past time period. Is that possible?

Yes it is! First you click on the "Generate Report" button on your configured reports list, then you can select any day in the past with the "Historical Report Run Date" option. The generated report will load the data as if you had received the report on that day.
